Over the years, Ruth always held down a full-time job and supported herself.

Two years ago, she experienced a serious cardiac episode and had to stop working.

Ruth survives on a small monthly government stipend and has no other source of income. Social services has arranged for a basic renovation of her apartment as it was in dire shape.

Recently, Ruth’s washing machine broke and cannot be repaired. Ruth is desperate for a new machine as she cannot drag her washing to a laundromat each week.
