Tami, 57, is a very devoted mother to her 17-year-old daughter, Kayla.

Tami and Kayla’s father are divorced; he is an alcoholic who pays no child support.

Unfortunately, Tami suffers from severe asthma and fibromyalgia, and cannot work outside of the home. She and Kayla survive on a monthly government stipend and a rent subsidy.

Tami tries to meet all of Kayla’s physical and emotional needs, but there is certainly no money left for “extras”.

At the moment, the family’s most dire need is a new refrigerator. Their old one is broken beyond repair and without our help, they will have no way to keep fresh food at home.
