Sofia, 41, moved to Israel from Russia 20 years ago. Sofia is divorced and has two children, ages 7 and 18. She receives no child support from either of her children’s fathers.

Sofia works part-time as a radiology assistant. Due to the Corona crisis, she was put on unpaid leave from March-June of this year. She is now back at work but struggles to make ends meet. In addition to her daily living expenses, Sofia is paying off debts and supporting two children.

Social services helps with some of her needs, but Sofia’s financial situation is still rather dire. At the moment, her most pressing need is a new refrigerator. Her old one is broken and cannot be repaired. Without a new refrigerator, Sofia has no way to feed herself or her two children.
