Sarah, 34, suffers from anemia and eating disorders that leave her underweight and tired all the time. This makes her daily struggle to provide for her children that much more difficult. Two of the six have special needs, and Sarah takes them for weekly therapy.

Sarah and her husband divorced three years ago, after many years of an on-again, off-again relationship. He no longer has any contact with her or with the children. Sarah and the children rely on their social benefits from the government, but these are simply not enough to cover their needs.

Sarah is on the waiting list for a public housing unit, and in the meantime, gets help with the rent for her small apartment. The stove/oven unit in their home broke, leaving Sarah unable to cook for her family, and Sarah is unable to afford a new one.
