Fridge for Ayala’s Family

Total Cost - USD 714
Still Needed - USD 0
Funded - USD 714

As the sole wage earner for her family, Ayala works until 2:00 p.m. every day. She cannot put in more hours than that, because her four children need support at home. Her oldest, a seven-year old, is disabled with severe ADHD. He does not read well, is clumsy, cannot eat without spilling his food, needs help with dressing and caring for himself, and is so unaware of potentially dangerous situations that he will jump through a window, run into the street, or turn on the gas without realizing the consequences.

Her husband, Yisrael, cannot help Ayala and does not work because he suffers from Crohn’s disease and depression. He spends most of his time in bed. Yisrael’s lack of involvement with the family has a negative effect on the children’s psyches as well. With her limited hours Ayala’s earnings are low. She can barely cover the mortgage and the family’s basic needs. Now their refrigerator has broken, and despite the importance of fresh and healthy food for the children, she cannot cover the cost of a new one.
