Laptop for Irina
Irina, 24, moved to Israel with her parents when she was 16. A year later, she moved out of their home and has lived on her own since then. She is no longer in contact with her parents. Irina has supported herself with various jobs over the years but because she has little training, they have been non-skilled low-paying positions.
Currently Irina sells credit cards in a mall. Eager to advance and not to live in poverty, she has been taking an applications development course hoping eventually to make a living in the field of computers. She attends class regularly and is doing well. However, in order to complete her studies, it is critical that Irina have her own computer on which to work. Her current income, however, does not allow Irina to buy one.
