Hearing Aids for Raina
Raina made aliya from Venezuela seven years ago. A translator by profession, she speaks several languages, although not much Hebrew; here she took a job as a cleaner.
In order to care for her husband, Raina stopped working when he was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago. The cancer has recently returned. Raina too suffers from several medical problems including diabetes, sleep apnea, and hypertension.
In addition, her hearing has been declining. Raina’s difficulty hearing is affecting her ability to interact with others. She now needs hearing aids but she and her husband, relying on social security and his disability stipend, do not have enough money to buy them.
