Computer for Hannah

Total Cost - USD 865

Funded - USD 865

An immigrant from South Africa, Karen is raising two daughters on her own. When she first arrived, Karen had trouble finding work because she didn’t speak Hebrew. For some time, the family lived off her unemployment benefits but struggled to make ends meet. They moved into a smaller apartment and took out numerous loans. To complicate matters, one daughter, Hannah, suffers from epilepsy and CP, and her mother battles with anxiety disorder. Today, Karen has a job as a kindergarten assistant but the family still struggles. Their medical bills are high and eat up much of Karen’s small salary.

When the family first arrived in Israel, Hannah had trouble integrating socially. While her situation has improved since their move, she needs help closing the educational and social gaps that developed in her first few years here. A computer would help Hannah in so many ways, yet obviously it remains beyond their reach.
