Lara, 42, is physically disabled and trying to raise three children, ages 10-16, on her own. Lara suffers from a degenerative spinal cord condition and, as a result, cannot work. She receives monthly child support payments from her children’s father and occasional help from social services, but she has no other sources of income.
Lara and her children live in a cramped, dilapidated 2.5 room apartment with minimal furnishings. Her most desperate need right now is a pull-out bunk bed for her children. A good night’s sleep would go a long way towards improving this family’s quality of life.
