Bed for Tali
Yasmin’s parents moved to Israel from Ethiopia when she was a baby.
Soon after they arrived, her father abandoned them. After a few years, Yasmin was removed from her mother’s home because of neglect and sent to foster care and boarding schools.
As a teenager, Yasmin ran away from her various homes/institutions and lived on the streets.
Eventually, Social Services found her and helped her straighten out. She joined the army and performed her full service; it was a very positive experience for her.
Upon completing her army service, Yasmin earned a high-school equivalency degree and worked odd jobs to support herself.
Yasmin’s dream is to study social work. She is now learning for her university entrance exams and is participating in a social services program that helps young people build a solid plan for the future.
Yasmin has a five-year-old daughter, Tali, who is autistic. The two survive on Tali’s monthly disability stipend.
Once she completes her degree, Yasmin is determined to find a job and build a stable future for herself and her daughter.
In the meantime, Yasmin desperately needs a bed for Tali. Currently, mother and daughter are sharing one bed.
With our help, Yasmin and Tali’s quality of life could improve dramatically.
