Air conditioner for Sima
Israeli summers are brutal – especially if you live in the South and you’re trying to sleep without air conditioning.
Sima, 54, is divorced and has three grown children. Sima has a traumatic past and was a former substance abuser. She no longer drinks alcohol or uses drugs, but she suffers from a number of physical ailments. Among her conditions are fibromyalgia, arthritis and lung disease which makes it hard to breath. Sima lives off her monthly disability payments, but her financial situation is poor. Recently, Sima’s nephew committed suicide which has sent her into an emotional downward spiral.
Sima lives in a two-room apartment and sleeps in a room without air conditioning. Given her lung condition, along with the soaring temperatures, she cannot get a good night’s sleep. Though Sima cannot afford the expense, a new air conditioner would certainly improve her quality of life.
