Psychological therapy sessions for families of reservists

Total Cost - USD 360,656
Still Needed - USD 324,017
Funded - USD 36,639

Since the war began, reservist families have been carrying an invisible weight. Some reservists are up to their 9th round of duty.

When a parent is called up for hundreds of days, the impact at home is immediate. One parent holds everything together. Children absorb the stress. And when the soldier returns, the emotional toll doesn’t simply disappear.

For many families, professional therapy could make all the difference, but the high cost puts it out of reach.

Together with Sheva Plus*, we are stepping in to change that.

Through this partnership, we aim to support up to 100 reservist families with professional mental health care, providing approximately (up to) 40 therapy sessions per family, tailored to their needs. Treatments include individual therapy for parents (spouses), emotional support for children, and family therapy when needed.

Each session costs an average of ₪275. Families contribute when they can, and we step in to subsidize the majority, ensuring that financial strain never prevents a family from receiving care.

The total project cost is ₪1,100,000 / $360,000.

Approx. average cost per family: 11,000 / $3,610.

* Sheva Plus, in partnership with the Forum Nashot HaMiluim and its network of reservist families, identifies families and individuals experiencing psychological distress and connects them with professional mental health care, acting as a bridge to make access to support easier, more direct, and more accessible in the aftermath of October 7.
