Rebecca, 69, divorced many years ago and lives alone. She suffers from a progressive respiratory disease that impedes the airflow to her lungs and affects her ability to breathe. Unable to work and reliant on a small government stipend, Rebecca had to sell her apartment and move to public housing. She has many outstanding debts and cannot make ends meet.

Recently, Rebecca’s bed broke, and she has been sleeping on a mattress on the floor. This has caused her intense back pain, and her quality of life has deteriorated further. Rebecca desperately needs a new bed, but she cannot afford one.
