Washing machine for Keren
Keren, 36, is an impressive young woman who is determined to move her life forward.
Keren has a five-year-old daughter, Julia. Keren and Julia’s father were never married and had a highly dysfunctional relationship. Today, Keren only has contact with him on issues related to their daughter.
A year ago, Keren, a former drug addict, finished a rehab program. Today, she and Julia live with Keren’s mother and younger brother.
Keren works at her local health fund. She supports herself and Julia on her salary, a monthly government stipend and a rent subsidy. She has debts to repay and struggles each month to make ends meet.
Last year, Keren joined a social services program that helps impoverished families build a sound financial plan. Keren, who had a very difficult childhood, is determined to give Julia the stable upbringing that she didn’t have.
Keren is a determined, capable, sensitive and intelligent woman. She dreams of a better future for herself and her daughter.
At the moment, Keren’s most pressing need is a new washing machine. Her old machine is broken and cannot be repaired; a new one would certainly improve Keren’s quality of life.
