Tuition for Miriam
Miriam, 18, is desperately trying to break the cycle of poverty she grew up in. Miriam’s father is unemployed and her mother works as a kindergarten teacher. With nine children, her salary doesn’t come close to covering the family’s most basic needs.
In the past few years, Miriam’s parents had to cover the cost of three weddings. One of their married children subsequently divorced and moved back home with her three-year-old child. Her situation obviously adds to the family’s financial burden. Miriam’s parents are also trying to cover tuition for four children, as well as therapy for their youngest child who suffers from social difficulties.
Miriam is a talented graphic artist. She began studying graphics with the dream of building herself a career path and an independent future. Miriam has been working odd jobs in order to cover part of her tuition and also received help from a non-profit organization. Unfortunately, she still can’t cover her last year of tuition. It would be a shame if Miriam had to quit when she’s so close to the finish line.
