Refrigerator for Tamar
Tamar, 46, needs help getting back on her feet.
Tamar grew up in an abusive household. When she got married, the abuse continued. Her husband physically, emotionally and verbally abused her, until she finally left him a few months ago.
While initiating divorce proceedings, Tamar and her ten-year-old daughter, Sivan, lived in a battered women’s shelter. The conditions were too difficult for Sivan so after three weeks, Tamar moved out.
She has now found an apartment in a new community and is trying to rebuild her life. Tamar is supporting herself and Sivan on her unemployment benefits and a monthly government stipend.
Tamar now has to furnish her new apartment. Her most desperate need is a refrigerator. Clearly, she and Sivan cannot survive the hot summer months without one.
