Total Cost - USD 365
Still Needed - USD 0
Funded - USD 365

Leora, 43, is raising seven children (ages 9-16) on her own. Five years ago, Leora and her husband divorced. At first, he visited with his children once a week. Today, he has cut off all contact with his family and pays no child support. Leora is truly on her own.

Leora and her children live in a government subsidized apartment. Currently, she is working part-time as a secretary, but it is a temporary position.

Leora knows that it is vital that she learn a trade and enter the workforce. Until now, it has been too complicated for her to study since she had no one to help her with the children. Now that they are a little older, she is hoping to begin a bookkeeping course through social services. She will then be able to look for work and start supporting her family. At the moment, they are living off of a monthly government stipend.

Leora’s apartment is crowded and in desperate need of repair. The furniture the family has is old and broken. They are missing many basic pieces, and their electrical appliances barely work.

The family’s most desperate need right now is a new oven. Theirs is beyond repair, and Leora cannot prepare hot food for her young family.
