Financial Assistance for Jake and Shira

Total Cost - USD 2,295
Still Needed - USD 1,984
Funded - USD 311

Jake and Shira live in southern Israel with their three young children, ages one to six. Since the war began, Jake has spent more than 400 days serving in the reserves, repeatedly leaving home to answer the call when his unit is needed.

While Jake has been in and out of service, Shira has taken on the full responsibility of caring for their young children while also running the family’s small business on her own. Despite her efforts to keep things going, the business has struggled and their income has dropped significantly.

Now the family is facing another urgent challenge. They have fallen behind on payments for their children’s daycare and afterschool programs, and the municipality has warned that if the payments are not completed, their children will no longer be able to attend.

Without daycare and afterschool care, Shira will not be able to continue working. The children would return home halfway through the day, making it impossible for her to manage both childcare and the business. The afterschool program is also where the children receive a hot meal each day, often the only proper meal they have during the day.

After more than a year of sacrifice and uncertainty, this young family is simply trying to stay afloat while Jake continues to serve. Support now would help keep the children in daycare and allow Shira to keep working to support the family.
