Beds for Leona’s family

Total Cost - USD 1,456

Funded - USD 1,456

Leona is a divorced mother of four children ranging  in age from 21 to 8 and is struggling to make ends meet. Her second son is currently serving in the IDF.  Her story is heartbreaking.

Married to Moshe at a young age, the couple suffered economic hardships from the very start. Though Leona was steadily employed, Moshe had trouble holding down a job. The couple’s financial situation began to have a negative effect on their marriage. As they incurred more and more debt, their fighting intensified. Leona soon discovered that Moshe owed money in the black market, and she had to withdraw her pension funds in order to cover his debts. In addition, the couple had to take out further loans to make ends meet. Ultimately, Moshe started disappearing for periods of time and would lie to Leona regarding his whereabouts. She found herself with no choice but to ask him to move out. He left – without even saying goodbye to his four children.

Despite being sued numerous times, Moshe has avoided paying any spousal or child support. This has left Leona alone to pay off their debts and loans, as well as to raise their children. The family’s only furniture is an old sofa and a few other odds and ends. Leona would like our help in providing a bed for her soldier son – a basic need that no one should be without, let a lone a soldier, returning home while serving his country.
