Washing machine for Ofra

Total Cost - USD 426
Still Needed - USD 0
Funded - USD 426

Ofra, 41, is a single mother to two children, ages 11 and 17. Ofra and her husband divorced three years ago; it was an ugly and difficult process.

Today, Ofra is struggling to stand on her own two feet. She works as an assistant teacher in a special ed classroom. She tried to hold down a second job as well, but it proved too difficult for her.

Ofra has a heavy load; besides caring for and supporting her two children, she is physically unwell and also cares for her aging parents.

Ofra is motivated to break her cycle of poverty; she is enrolled in a social services program that is helping her build a sound financial and professional plan for the future. The program also provides her children with therapy, as they suffered severe trauma during their parents’ divorce.

In the meantime, Ofra supports herself and her children on her salary and a monthly government stipend. Along with the family’s monthly living expenses, Ofra also has debts to repay.

At the moment, Ofra’s most pressing need is a new washing machine. Her old one is broken beyond repair, and she can’t afford to replace it.

It would be a huge help to Ofra if she didn’t have to worry about laundry on top of all of her other problems.
