Stove for Shira
Shira, 32, is going through a rough time. After discovering that her partner was abusing drugs and alcohol, Shira left him. She subsequently found out that she was pregnant. The father was uninterested in the pregnancy or the baby and offered no support. The two got back together briefly after the baby was born, but following an especially violent incident that their son witnessed, Shira left him for good. The situation has caused both her and her son deep emotional trauma. Shira is now under psychological care for stress and depression. She is very frustrated with her personal and financial situation, and is determined to change it.
For a short time, Shira and her son moved in with her mother, as she was afraid to be alone. She also began working steadily as a cleaner in a dental clinic. Now, seeking independence and hoping to improve her life, Shira and her son are moving to a government-subsidized apartment. Shira is excited about this step forward, but she is struggling to buy the appliances and furniture that they will need in order to live on their own. In particular, she needs a stove so that she can feed herself and her son properly. Unfortunately, she does not have the money with which to buy one.
