Refrigerator for the Cohen family
Ilana, 39, had to stop working a year ago when she developed cancer. She was treated and has since recovered, but now suffers from anxiety attacks and depression. Unfortunately, she recently found another suspicious lump.
Ilana’s husband, Daniel, brings in the family’s only income with what he earns as a truck driver. His salary is not enough to cover the family’s needs, even though they live in a tiny one-bedroom apartment. Three of their four children (ages 14, 12, 8 and 6) have special needs and study in special classes.
Recently, a short circuit in their building’s electrical system blew out a number of their appliances. Their old refrigerator, which was already on its last legs, cannot be repaired. The family clearly cannot survive without a working refrigerator; yet, they cannot afford to buy one.
