Refrigerator for Tami
Tami’s story is a tragic one. Her parents struggled financially and her mother had severe emotional difficulties. Tami was eventually removed from her parent’s home and put into a boarding school. She successfully completed her high school degree and went on to finish her full army service.
In 2019, Tami married Shai who is now serving a seven year prison sentence. Tami is seven months pregnant and homeless. She cannot move back to her parent’s home as they are in financial distress and the tension in the house is unbearable. Shai’s parents lost a son and daughter-in-law and are raising their grandchildren. They have no means by which to help Tami. Tami survives by floating between friends’ homes and relying on the kindness of strangers. She is on a waiting list to receive a public housing unit.
Recently, Tami found a very low-cost rental apartment and is hoping to move in shortly. The apartment, however, is bare of furniture and appliances. At the very least, Tami desperately needs a refrigerator to survive.
