Refrigerator for Leah
Leah, 62, is divorced and lives on her own. For years, Leah worked as an aide to physically and cognitively challenged individuals. She herself is now dealing with a multitude of physical ailments, including epilepsy, diabetes, cardiac issues, chronic joint pain and an auto-immune condition. She can no longer work to support herself and lives off of her monthly disability stipend and other benefits. She struggles to meet her cost-of-living, which includes debts that have to be repaid.
Leah recently lost her mother, with whom she was very close. This trauma, coupled with her deteriorating physical condition, has left her in a downward emotional spiral. She suffers from severe anxiety and drastic mood swings. Leah is now on medication that helps balance her emotional state.
At the moment, Leah is living without a working refrigerator. Her old one broke, and she cannot afford to replace it. With a little bit of help, Leah can at least have fresh food to eat.
