Refrigerator for Dorit and Elad

Total Cost - $ 1,420
Still Needed - $ 1,279
Funded - $ 141

Dorit and Elad, both in their 40’s, are raising ten young children (ages 6 months – 16). Elad suffers from gout and, as a result, is in chronic pain.

The couple used to live up North and owned a neighborhood newspaper. When a second newspaper started, Dorit and Elad couldn’t withstand the competition and declared bankruptcy.

In time, the family moved to the center of the country in order to improve their children’s educational options. They found a cheap apartment and lived with the most basic furnishings.

Dorit and Elad were lucky to receive financial help from Elad’s mother during these difficult years. When she died, however, they were left without support.

Soon after her death, the family of 12 moved to a smaller, cheaper apartment in order to try to make ends meet. During the move, most of their old, broken furniture fell apart. In addition, their refrigerator broke and had to be thrown out.

The family has been making do with a tiny office refrigerator but, needless to say, this is not a long-term solution. If they could get help buying a new refrigerator, their quality of life would certainly improve.
