Refrigerator for Chaya
In the past, Chaya, 32, worked as a cleaner, but her current emotional and mental state has made that impossible. Instead, about a year ago, Chaya moved herself and her two children (ages 10 and one) to her hometown. Despite having grown up in foster care and boarding schools, they moved in with her mother.
Chaya has been helping her mother run the family daycare but receives no salary for this. The tension between the two women got so bad that recently Chaya and the children found their own apartment. They are happy and relieved to be living on their own, but without an income, Chaya has been unable to buy furniture or appliances. As a result, the family has no refrigerator and no money with which to purchase one.
