Carni, 53, is divorced and lives on her own. Her physical condition is dire; she suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, a herniated disc and chronic joint pain. She cannot complete the simplest daily tasks and depends on family members (including her elderly mother) for almost everything. As a result of her situation, Carni’s emotional state has deteriorated as well. She suffers from anxiety disorder, and the medication she takes has many negative side effects.
Carni survives on a monthly government stipend, but she has fallen deeply into debt. She struggles to make ends meet every month.
At the moment, Carni’s most desperate need is a new refrigerator. At the very least, she needs to have fresh food within reach.
