Oven for Sarit and Leon
Sarit, 45, and Leon, 51, are going through a very rough time.
Leon worked steadily as a truck driver for many years. A former drug addict, Leon eventually lost his license and, therefore, his job as well. During his years of unemployment, the family fell deeply into debt.
Sarit worked sporadically over the years but when her two young children (now ages 9 and 14) were diagnosed with special needs, she had to spend a lot of time caring for them which impacted her ability to work outside of the home.
During the Corona crisis, the family’s financial situation only worsened. Their children, who both have behavioral issues and learning disabilities, also suffered tremendously. The situation at home was tense and volatile.
Today, Leon is working as a forklift operator, and Sarit as an aide to the elderly. Both children are under psychiatric care, and the family gets assistance from social services.
Sarit and Leon are trying their hardest to get back on their feet. In the meantime, however, their oven has broken and they cannot afford to replace it. Raising two young children without a working oven is nearly impossible. With our help, Sarit can return to cooking them proper meals.
