Oven for Ruth
Ruth, 52, is raising her 14-year-old daughter, Nomi, on her own.
Ruth has multiple health issues and cannot work outside of the home; she receives a monthly disability stipend. In addition, social services helps out in whatever ways they can.
Ruth and Nomi live in Ruth’s deceased parents’ government-subsidized apartment. Ruth’s father died a few years ago and her mother, seven months ago. Ruth cared for her mother until the day she died and feels her absence deeply.
At the moment, Ruth and Nomi are living without a washing machine or an oven. Ruth takes the laundry to her sister’s house, which is nearby. Mother and daughter make do with a single electric burner.
If Ruth could get help purchasing an oven, she would be able to cook proper meals for herself and her growing daughter.
