Oven for Gershon
His divorce a year ago threw Gershon, 51, into such a crisis that he has been unable to work. He and his former wife had a complicated and difficult relationship before the divorce, and now the discussions about guardianship and child support are ongoing and no less stressful.
In the meantime, Gershon shares custody of the youngest two of their children (ages seven and 12) and the older three live with him full time (ages 19 – 25). Gershon’s 23 year old son is currently in the Army. Neither of he other two older children holds a steady job and none contributes to the household’s income.
Gershon has no money and is accumulating debts. There is no support from either extended family, as they are all dependent on social services as well.
Despite the troubles, Gershon is doing what he can to support his children. But without a working stove or oven, it is a struggle to make meals for them. He is not in a position to buy a new one but the appliance is one that he sorely needs.
