Oven for Eden
Eden, 63, made aliya from Ethiopia 14 years ago. Her husband died en route to Israel, and she arrived as a widow.
Because of her medical problems – diabetes, high blood pressure, liver problems – Eden is unable to work. She relies on her old age stipend from the government. This amount is barely sufficient to cover her daily needs.
As her health deteriorates, Eden has to buy more medications, and she has trouble affording them, stretching her budget as far as she possibly can. Now her oven has failed and Eden would greatly appreciate a new one so that, despite her ailments, she can at least prepare healthy food for herself.
