Oven and cooktop for Shoshana and Nissan
Shoshana, 52, and Nissan, 61, are parents to eight children. The couple moved to Israel from Ethiopia around 30 years ago. Nissan is on full disability and Shoshana works as an aide to the elderly. While they do their best to make ends meet, they struggle financially. To add to their burdens, one of their children has special needs and requires extra help.
Shoshana and Nissan’s youngest daughter, Netta, is in 12th grade. She is an intelligent, outgoing and charismatic young woman. Netta is actively involved in a non-profit program that helps young women living in poverty improve their circumstances. Netta participates in therapy on a regular basis and cooperates with all of the program’s requirements. Both she and her sister work in order to help their parents.
Despite everyone’s best efforts, the family still struggles. Currently, they are living without a working oven or cooktop. Clearly, this makes cooking nearly impossible. Shoshana and Nissan cannot afford to buy these appliances, but new ones would certainly improve the family’s quality of life.
