Mattress for Yehudit

Total Cost - USD 650
Still Needed - USD 0
Funded - USD 650

Yehudit, 33, completed a degree in Management and Human Resources and had hoped to work in her chosen field. However, suffering from optic atrophy, she is now completely blind. Two years ago, Yehudit also developed fibromyalgia. This makes it difficult for her to work or sometimes to even function at home.

Two years ago, Yehudit married Benny, 29. He works in a garage, repairing cars. The two rely on his income plus her disability stipend to cover their expenses. Yehudit is now in the later months of pregnancy. While they very much want a child, the pregnancy has been difficult, increasing her pain to the extent that she sometimes cannot get out of bed for days at a time.

Unable to work in management, Yehudit has been retraining as a social worker. Until she is able to take a position in this field, however, the couple has very few resources. Their apartment’s owner left them some furniture and appliances, but they have been able to add very little to this. Yehudit’s doctor has prescribed an orthopedic mattress for her, to make her more comfortable and ease much of her pain. The cost of the mattress, however, is well beyond the couple’s budget, so Yehudit has been suffering without it. A new one would certainly improve Yehudit’s quality of life.
