Laptop for Eden’s son
Eden moved to Israel from Ethiopia with her family when she was three. The adjustment to Israel was difficult for the family, but Eden has a positive outlook on life and she is determined to do her best here. She finished high school and served in the Army. Eden, 38, is divorced and has two children, a nine-year old son and a two-year old daughter. There are some child support payments but they come irregularly.
Eden is a loving, energetic, and diligent mother. After taking some time off to care for the kids, she knew that she would return to work in order to earn a living and raise them properly. She took a haircutting course and now puts in regular hours in a salon. However, her salary is low – they are getting by, but only by living very frugally. There is no budget for anything but the basics.
Eden wants to help her children succeed in school, but for that, they will need a computer. Her son’s school requires one. The students need to do research and turn in their homework electronically. Without a computer at home, it will be almost impossible for him to complete his assignments. Eden believes in the value of the computer, but there is no room in her budget for her to buy one.
