Heater for Anya

Anya, 83, emigrated to Israel from the former Soviet Union when she was 54. She is housebound, living in a small apartment with her disabled son.

Anya suffers from many medical issues, including depression, orthopedic issues, frequent falls, and other problems that have kept her from working for many years. She needs help with almost every daily task. The situation frustrates Anya. She hates being housebound and her current limited condition saddens her.

In the past, Anya was an engineer; certificates of appreciation for her work line the walls of her home. The apartment is not a comfortable place for her. Lacking a heating/cooling unit, Anya suffers from Israel’s heat much of the year, and from the cold of the winter. She cannot afford to buy a window unit, but there is no question that this simple appliance would bring a significant improvement to the quality of Anya’s life.
