Meir, 62, suffers from so many medical problems that he is not able to work. His kidneys don’t function properly, his high blood pressure is not responding to medication, he has serious diabetes that is beginning to affect his legs, severe dizziness, an irregular heartbeat, and sleep issues.

Meir has no family support and no income beyond a stipend from the state. Now he doesn’t have a working refrigerator either. According to a technician, the motor has failed completely and the cost of replacing it would be more than the cost of a new fridge. On his limited budget, Meir cannot afford to buy a one.
