Fridge for Ortal and her family

Ortal is a single mother raising three children on her own. She suffers from fibromyalgia, severe migraines and meningitis, all of which prevent her from working.

In addition, she supports her 18-year old son Kobe who was born with Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), a disease that causes fevers, inflammation of the lungs, and painful, swollen joints. This illness, in addition to his ADHD and frequent bouts of anger, has made it hard for Kobe to keep up in school.

With no income and no family support, Ortal and the children rely on social security payments. She has petitioned for handicapped status for herself and Dan, which would help them financially.

Currently, she is in desperate financial state. She often cannot afford to buy food or her medicines. The family has no refrigerator, washing machine, or electric appliances.

For Ortal, life sometimes seems very bleak, and a working fridge would benefit her outlook and overall quality of life.
