After many difficult years of marriage, Sima and her husband recently divorced. She now lives, with her two-year-old son, in the home that she inherited from her parents. Her former husband never worked steadily and does not support her or their four children.

Sima relies on her oldest two daughters, ages 21 and 23, for her financial needs. Her third daughter is currently a soldier. Recently, Sima took a job as an aide to the elderly. She is relieved to be earning a salary, but it is quite small. It is certainly not sufficient to cover the cost of a new cooktop, now that her previous one has broken.
