Orna, 44, is raising her 13-year-old son on her own. Orna worked for a catering company until she lost her job because of the Corona crisis. Because her salary was very low, Orna ran up some debts, and now the bank is claiming all of her unemployment payments. This leaves Orna and her son reliant on state child support payments as their only income.
Orna receives regular medical treatment for slipped discs in her back. The constant pain makes every step difficult and has complicated her ability to look for a new job. Sleeping on an old, worn out mattress makes the pain worse, but Orna cannot afford the sturdy, orthopedic mattress that would alleviate much of her discomfort.
