Computer for Daniel
Daniel, 20, has had a troubled and complicated upbringing. As the youngest of eight brothers, he grew up in an ultra-Orthodox household. As far back as he can remember, his father suffered from dementia and his mother spent most of her time caring for him. Daniel suffered physical abuse by one of his brothers and lacked for any positive attention at home. It is no surprise that at the age of 12 he began to exhibit delinquent behavior. Two years later, he began using drugs.
Daniel’s schooling was erratic. He was moved from setting to setting as professionals attempted to find the right framework for him. From a young age he displayed emotional outbursts and was eventually diagnosed with ADD.
Eventually, social services got involved and Daniel started pulling his life together. He finished 12 years of schooling, stopped using drugs, held down various jobs and built a solid relationship with his family. For the past six months, he has held a steady job at the City of David excavation site. He supports himself without his family’s help and has even begun to pay back the debts that he incurred over the years. Daniel fully cooperates with social services and has made great strides in rebuilding his life.
Recently, Daniel has begun composing music. He does this with the help of his cellphone, but a computer would open up a whole new world for him.
This is a young man who has taken his life into his hands and deserves help in pursuing his dreams.
