Beds for Mazal’s Children
Mazal and her four children have recently returned to the town in which she grew up, after months in a shelter for abused women. Mazal is not yet working and needs all the support possible as she recovers from the trauma of her previous situation. Her social worker has helped the family find an apartment and settle the children (ages 11, 9, 7, and 5) in school.
With no income, Mazal has been unable to furnish the apartment. The children are sleeping on second-hand mattresses on the floor because she cannot afford beds for them. They would be better equipped to deal with the challenges of their new life if they could get a good night’s sleep. At the moment, even that is out of their reach.
