Beds for Maya’s children

Total Cost - USD 848
Still Needed - USD 0
Funded - USD 848

Although Maya has a steady job as an accountant, her earnings are not enough to cover her family’s needs. Over 18 years of marriage, she was the sole earner. Her husband did not look for a job and, to make matters worse, subjected her to various humiliations. Maya separated from him a year ago, and they are now divorced. He does not pay any child support, leaving Maya responsible for their three sons and all of their needs. The boys, who are 17, 15 and 14, all have functional difficulties that require a lot of support from both Maya and a social worker. By being very careful with her budget, Maya can usually cover each month’s expenses, but there is nothing extra.

Two of the boys currently sleep on mattresses that are too small for them and that are not sized properly for their bedframes. They need larger, more appropriate mattresses, but Maya cannot afford them.
