Beds for Edna’s children
Edna, 36, embarked on a courageous journey when she made Aliyah from Ethiopia, settling in Beit Shemesh with her two children, aged 9 and 5.
Her past is marked by a traumatic marriage to a highly violent man. A year and a half ago, Edna summoned the strength to divorce him, prioritizing the safety of her sons. Presently, her ex-husband is serving time in prison for charges encompassing domestic violence, abuse, and attempted murder.
Edna struggles deeply as she lives with persistent anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) stemming from the traumatic marriage. Fears of her ex-husband returning to harm her children haunt her daily. Edna’s entire family are still in Ethiopia and with her ex-husband incarcerated, Edna finds herself without any support, feeling profoundly isolated.
Immediately following her divorce, Edna relocated to a new apartment. Unfortunately, this transition left her children without beds, as the existing ones were broken in the move. For over a year, the kids have been sleeping in the living room or sharing their mother’s bed, as Edna’s financial constraints prevent her from affording new ones.
Let’s join together to buy new beds for these two boys and allow them to finally have a good night’s sleep.
