Dana, 42, and Yaakov, 59, are doing their best to stand on their own two feet. Together, the couple have two young children, ages 4 and 7.

Dana had a very complicated upbringing which included unstable family dynamics and abuse. She had a baby at age 17 with her first husband, but the marriage ended because of spousal abuse. As a result of these circumstances, Dana gave her daughter up for adoption. Today, they are in contact.

Dana has been in counseling since her teenage years because of her childhood traumas. She was diagnosed with PTSD and approved for a monthly disability stipend. After many years of holding down a steady secretarial job, Dana’s disability payments were recently stopped.

Yaakov worked over the years at various jobs, including as a clothing salesman and a driver. Unfortunately, with the arrival of the Corona crisis, he was put on unpaid leave and was out of work for an extended period. Recently, he was hired as a Corona director at a school, but that job will end shortly.

Dana and Yaakov have been married for ten years and have a good relationship. The financial stress that they have been under since Yaakov has been unemployed, however, is beginning to take its toll. They have incurred heavy debts and are having trouble making ends meet.

The couple recently joined a social services program that helps struggling families build a solid financial plan, as well as providing couples’ therapy and parenting workshops. Dana and Yaakov are determined to get back on their feet.

In the meantime, the family is desperate for new beds since they are all sleeping on old, broken, unstable ones. There is no question that new beds will afford Dana, Yaakov and their children a good night’s sleep, thereby improving their quality of life.
