Chen, 35, is facing difficult times. Eight years ago, her husband died suddenly from cancer. She is now raising four children on her own – two from her marriage and two from other relationships. Chen receives no support from her own family, but two of her children now live with her deceased husband’s family.

Chen has not been able to work as she is home with her baby. In addition, she now has her four-year-old at home as well since he suffers from respiratory ailments and is high-risk because of Corona.

The family survives on government subsidies and is deep in debt. In fact, Chen is facing legal proceedings now because of her failure to meet her debt payments.
Chen and her two children live in a one-room apartment. The children share a broken bed. At the very least, Chen is hoping to receive help to buy a pull-out bed to save space and allow each of the children their own bed to sleep on at night.
