Bed for Stav
Stav, 48, is going through a difficult time. Divorced, she has one adult child and one 12-year-old son who still lives at home.
Stav completed 12 years of schooling but never learned a profession. Over the years, she worked odd jobs but for the past few years, due to physical and emotional issues, she has been unemployed. Her physical disabilities are not dire enough to entitle her to government benefits so she supports herself and her son solely on a monthly government stipend. Her ex-husband is meant to pay monthly child support but only does so occasionally. Stav has avoided a confrontation with him over this issue since she doesn’t want to expose her son to additional tension.
Over the years, Stav has been too embarrassed to turn to social services for help. Last year, she finally joined a program that helps impoverished women access their rights and plan an educational and professional path. Hopefully, Stav is now on her way to turning her life around.
Stav is a very devoted mother who tries to meet all of her son’s needs. Unfortunately, she doesn’t worry enough about herself. Stav, who suffers from chronic back pain, is currently sleeping on a broken bed with an old mattress. If she could get a proper bed and a good night’s sleep, it would do wonders for her quality of life.
