Bed for Dina
Dina, 58, and her 26-year old son live in a small public housing unit. Both suffer from health problems that keep them from working. In particular, Dina has debilitating fibromyalgia. She is under medical care which requires frequent exhausting trips to the hospital for various appointments.
The illness is causing her severe back pain. Her doctors strongly recommend an orthopedic bed in the expectation that this will alleviate some of the discomfort and allow her a good night’s sleep. But Dina has no income beyond her social security payments. She is not able does to pay for all of her needs and, therefore, has high debts.
Only a narrow single bed will fit into her bedroom, but Dina cannot afford even that.
