Bed for Dana
Dana, 39, is doing everything in her power to stand on her own two feet.
Dana, a single mother to four young children (ages 3-9), got divorced four years ago after being physically abused by her husband. She entered a social services program that helps battered women and is determined to move forward.
Dana’s ex-husband has cut off all contact with his children and gives Dana no financial support. She survives on a monthly government stipend and a rent subsidy.
Today, Dana receives mentoring from social services, and she and her children are in therapy. She is about to begin working as an aide to the elderly.
Dana and her children live in a small three-room apartment. They have minimal furnishings, but Dana works hard to keep the apartment neat and tidy.
Her most desperate need right now is a new bed. At the moment, Dana is sleeping on an old living room sofa. She has started experiencing back pain and cannot get a decent night’s sleep.
As Dana tries to move forward with her life, there is no doubt that a new bed will greatly improve her quality of life.
